Firemen from the historic 1950’s fire station in Killarney St, Takapuna have now moved into a new $4 million building on Wairau Rd. Waitemata Fire Area Assistant Manager John Booth says the Killarney station was in the wrong place and the new location gives them far better coverage. The Wairau Rd station took nearly a year to construct and is also home to the Waitemata Fire Area Management office.
The fire station utilises AceDoors AlumaViewTM sectional overhead appliance bay doors which are linked to the station alarm which automatically lifts the doors ready for the fire engine exit.
AlumaViewTM sectional doors have long been the standard fixture for facilities that require dependable, attractive doors that offer maximum visibility. With an anodised finished extruded aluminium frame, AlumaViewTM door sections are a full 50mm thick and are designed to withstand windloads up to 0.96 kPa. AlumaViewTM doors also help to reduce energy costs with a u-shaped, vinyl bottom weatherseal secured by a sturdy aluminium retainer. AlumaViewTM OPTIMA panels and glass are completely encased in soft vinyl channels and held firmly in place with a rigid, snap-in retainer. This adds strength and security while reducing the chance of breakage.
